Frequently asked questions

Can you make me a piece with a specific plant species?

While I am always happy to go as far out of my way as I can to meet all of your requests as best I can, I gather all of my own botanical specimens, and thus, unfortunately, the plants that I have access to at any given time are very circumstantial. If it is a species that definitely doesn't grow in inland New England, unfortunately I won't be able to get my hands on it without outside help.

However, I am always willing to accept pressed or fresh specimens from you if you would like me to make something from them, assuming the specimen you are sending is legal to both possess and ship. Please contact me for further information if you would like to arrange something like this.

Will the specimens rot or decay?

Absolutely not! All the specimens in my shop have been thoroughly dried, sealed, and encased in solid, high quality epoxy resin. There is no water left inside the specimen which could cause decay, nor any air to touch them.

Like the herbarium specimens which inspire my work, some pieces may fade in color over time to a slightly paler hue, as is the nature of pressed plants. The rate of fading varies largely from species to species and pendant to pendant, but it can be greatly slowed by observing the following care instructions.

Care instructions

Please be sure to store your herbarium jewelry in as cool an environment as possible, and out of direct sunlight.

Please keep your jewelry away from corrosive substances or any spray-on polymers or acrylic. For instance, please remove earrings/plugs before applying hairspray.

If possible, avoid wearing large, flat pendants for prolonged periods of time against bare skin if you are perspiring, as some sweat can be slightly corrosive and can slowly warp the back of pendants.

Can the sizing of any of the pieces be adjusted?

Unfortunately, all of my jewelry, with the exception of lichen plugs, are cast in custom-made molds that take a lot of careful preparation and work to plan, carve, and eventually cast. Therefore, it isn't generally possible to craft a new mold from scratch for one custom piece. If you would like to work out an arrangement for a custom-sized piece for a slightly increased price, please feel free to send me a message!

How do I get into contact with you if I have a question?

You can contact me via the "Contact Shop Owner" button on the left-hand side of the shop home page, or on any one of the individual listings! I will always get back to as soon as I am able, generally within 24 hours.

If you have a problem with your order, please DO NOT try to get into contact with me via the review function! I have an open return and exchange policy and am always perfectly happy to work with you to amend whatever problem you may have with your order, but I currently do not view my own reviews for mental health purposes, so if you try to get my attention with a review, I WILL NOT see it.
